Details and Drinks, Dinner at Rolo’s
Tucked away in Ridgewood, Queens is Rolo’s, a small restaurant with an explorative menu and a wood-fired theme. Also known as Jeremy Allen White’s favorite restaurant in our city, Rolo’s is lowkey offering spectacular dishes and drinks — including their famous “carrot drink” that dethroned my previous favorite cocktail and became my new #1.
Admittedly, I have not been drinking this year (not on purpose but rather completely accidental) and the flavors and warmth of the incredibly fresh tasting drink have left an imprint in my mind that can only mean I must recreate my own version.
We ordered the sesame and wild oregano wood-fired polenta bread, pickled carrots in orange and coriander (as i’ve mentioned before it is mandatory we order the carrot dish if there is one on the menu and this did not disappoint in the slightest), leafy greens and herb salad, two sheet lasagna verde bolognese (seeing why this is so popular), and lastly the wagyu beef skirt steak with a delicate herb butter topping. The meal was so incredible we actually opted for dessert (we literally never do) and I’m so glad that we did. A wood-fired peach creme caramel with ice cream that was precious in its presentation but absolutely intense in flavor.
